The Bud Werner Memorial Library and the Steamboat Springs Arts Council present an award-winning 2009 drama directed by Cirro Guerra & Columbia's official selection for Best Foreign Language Film in the 82nd Academy Awards. THE WIND JOURNEYS - For most his life, Ignacio traveled the villages of northern Columbia playing traditional songs on his accordion, a legendary instrument said to have once belonged to the devil. After marriage and settling down Ignacio deals with the traumatic death of his wife and embarks on a journey to return the instrument to its rightful owner. Paddling Life Invitational and the 30th Annual Yampa River Fest

Location: "C-Hole" behind the Bud Werner Library and Fish Creek
Now in its fifth year, and held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Yampa River Festival (May 28-30, 2010), the Paddling Life Invitational is a one-day kayaking event in Steamboat Springs, CO that pits some of the world's top kayakers against one another in a one-day, two-event competition for a cash purse and year-long bragging rights.The best men and women kayakers in the world compete head-to-head in a downriver race on the middle section of Fish Creek, followed by a freestyle event in the C-Hole in downtown Steamboat Springs, arguably the best man-made feature in the state. This is followed by an Après Paddle and Awards Party sponsored by New Belgium Brewery at Sun Pies Bistro between 7th and 8th on Yampa Ave (waterside to the Yampa River).


29th Annual Steamboat Marathon

Date: June 6, 2010
Time: 7:30am - 1:00pm
Location: Starts at Hahn's Peak Village
One of the most highly recognized races of the Running Series, the Marathon course was selected by Runner’s World as one of the "10 Most Scenic Marathons of the Year".

The 2010 Steamboat Springs Stage Race

Four-day road stage race returns for the Labor Day weekend. Now in its second year, the Steamboat Springs Stage Race, presented by Moots, is one of twelve road stage races profiled in VeloNews’ Road & Race Guide. Sanctioned by the American Cycling Association, the four-day stage race includes an individual time trial, circuit race, Moots road race, and finishes with a downtown criterium. The 2009 Steamboat Springs Stage Race donated proceeds totaling $7500.00 to the following local organizations: Routt County Riders, Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Cycling, and the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. A similar locally focused advocacy program is planned for 2010. Beneficiaries will be identified in the coming month
